First read mason's well written article
here
Ok now let me start on why this is absurd in Doom 3.
Firstly the most common types of aimbots are hit scan based bots. These only truly work with high powered single shot weapons (ala the rail gun), not rapid fire hitscan weapons, because there is no point when you can hose them down.
The second issue would be prediction bots. Granted they do exist, but there are few of them (and none for Doom 3). A bot that predicts where you are simply reads your movement and plants it where you will be, as soon as you hear the shot go off, walk another way... these bots are only highly effective in games like quake 3 with air rox where you are largely locked into a trajectory and can't break free.
The other problem with this theory is that it's hard to miss in Doom 3, it's so cramped. You really think somebody is going to bot you down a hall so small you can't jump or move?
The second issue is radar/wall hacks. Now I can sort of see the reason people would hop to this conclusion. This would be effective in Doom 3, highly so actually. However I still think people are quick to jump the gun. Any player that memorizes the map can tell where you are at any pickup, and by foot steps, it's usually just some of the better players out wailing on people.
I think that people need to calm down and think about... it's not a problem.
NOTE, and the final reason. Cheat makers tend to swarm to games with large player bases and high security, Doom3 doesn't fit that profile.
