What audience do you think D3 will attract? Will it bring the UT2K4, Painkiller, CS, CoD, BFV, Halo crowds? Who will come, who wont? Whats your thoughts?

I can’t make a call yet.
But I for one will part of this community and give it my best shot. It’s a quality series, from a great company and I have high hopes for it.
I don’t think UT players will hop to it… it doesn’t seem that type of game. I hope that the old schoolers show up and have fun. That’s all I ask. This was one of the games that started it all, lets hope it starts a new era.

Hard to say. But I will assume that players from every game will come over and give it a try - whether they like it alot or not, only time will tell. However, I don't see many people from the UT2k4 community coming over. While at the same time, we may see some old Quake3 players emerge.
Hopefully a team based mod will come soon, and steal players from other games. :P Bring them to the dark side.

Cool, very cool. Hopefully when people do get around to making maps, they wont be very detailed but at the same time have awesome weapon placement and layout. Because we all know this is one of the most CPU demanding games out as of right now.

There are some new "stock" style DM maps and other stuff. There is a good priv server up now if you want I can PM you the details as it's not run or managed by this site so I can't make it public.

After furthing looking into it, its obvious now that Doom 3 caught everyone's eye initially, and seems to have brought back some old school DM'rs from Quake1 / Quake 2 days if only for a few competitions.
It will be interesting to see how things progress.

Yeah I have noticed the list of participants for winter CPL, saw quite a few familiar names on there, as well as a few old ones.
It seems that Doom 3 has gotten quite the “push” competitively. Should be allot of fun events in the future.

It doesn't really matter what aspect of gaming your'e from, you'll probably like the game. I play a Lot of Halo,Splinter-cell & Kotor, all thinking games, and I LOVED this Mindless Violence! [if you can call it that...]
