A medium-sized map, unfortunately centered around a single switch that turns off the lights in most of the level, hence the name lights out. It's got one armor, an invisibility powerup, and one of each weapon. Aside from the "switch room", all the rooms in the map are very, very small, contain plenty of dark spots to hide in (obviously significantly more when the lights are out), and are connected by similarily small corridors. |

Just like every competitive deathmatch game has at least one good all-around map, every deathmatch game also needs it's gimmick map: A map that shows the game engine's capabilities, and is fun for new players looking for something new to try out, but doesn't play well for tournaments. Lights out fits in this category quite nicely. Stay away from it for tournaments, but don't be afraid of playing it in Free For Alls: the light switch makes for some hilarious moments. |
